Subsidisation under the NSW Government's Smart and Skilled program helps people get training in in-demand skills and industries. It’s a key part of the NSW vocational education and training (VET) system. 

Traineeships are a proven pathway to well-paid jobs in a diverse range of careers. In NSW, traineeships are also fee free.

Smart and Skilled gives eligible students with REINSW training in the following courses:

Are you Eligible for a Fee Free Traineeship under Smart and Skilled

To be eligible for a smart and skilled fee free traineeship within either CPP31519 Certificate III in Real Estate Practice or the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice, you must satisfy the following:

  • 15 Years old or over
  • No longer at school
  • Living or working within NSW
  • An Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen

REINSW can not make any assessment on eligibility of a Learner for a Fee Free Traineeship under the Smart and Skilled program.

Apprenticeship Support Australia

Schedule a free chat with the Australian Apprenticeship Centre Team and they can show you how you can sign-up an apprentice or trainee, or sign up as a trainee. Employers will also be shown how they can access funding and incentives from the federal and state government that their business may be eligible for.

Smart and Skilled Fees

Fee free traineeships are subsidised by the NSW and Federal Government. To check for further information regarding fee free traineeships or fees where you may not be eligible for a fee free traineeship under Smart and Skilled.

As part of the Smart and Skilled fee free traineeships, employers maybe eligible for incentives.

Incentives are not guaranteed. REINSW is not liable for any incentives that may be payable to the employer.

Where there is an issue with incentives, employers are to contact the Australian Apprentice Centre that completed the initial sign up of the traineeship.

Resolving issues or concerns within a Traineeship

As the first step, you're encouraged to speak to your training provider about any issues or concerns about your training under Smart and Skilled. All approved Smart and Skilled training providers must have a consumer protection officer who can help students with their concerns.

You can also contact the Smart and Skilled customer support centre to seek assistance, ask for advice, make a complaint or provide feedback. You can do this over the phone on 13 28 11, or in person at a Training Services NSW centre.

Student right and obligations

As a student receiving government-subsidised training under Smart and Skilled, you have certain rights and obligations.

You have the right to:

  • expect that the quality of your training meets the standards, regulations and requirement set down by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and Smart and Skilled
  • be informed about the collection of your personal information and be able to review and correct that information
  • access your training provider's consumer protection complaints process.

Your obligations include:

  • providing accurate information to the training provider
  • behaving in a responsible and ethical manner.
