Changes to Privacy Act imminent

25 February 2014

As you would be aware, amendments to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) will take effect on 12 March 2014.

The changes will affect entities regulated by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), unless the entity is exempt. Perhaps the most relevant exemption for agencies is the exemption applying to small business operators.

If caught by the changes, agencies will need to update their existing privacy policies, practices and contractual arrangements to ensure compliance with the new legislation.
