MEDIA RELEASE: 2023 REINSW Awards for Excellence winners announced

7 September 2023

REINSW has recognised outstanding industry achievement, crowning the winners of its 2023 REINSW Awards for Excellence.

This year we acknowledge and celebrate 26 years of the REINSW Awards for Excellence and the fact that it continues to be the most prestigious and respected industry awards event in New South Wales, recognising the best of the best within the real estate industry.

REINSW President Peter Matthews says this year the Awards for Excellence celebrates those who’ve really gone that extra mile despite such trying times.

“Yet again we were impressed by the calibre of the entrants into the Awards for Excellence despite a year of unprecedented challenges,” says Mr Matthews. “Every one of you has set a new standard for excellence in real estate practice, and we are proud to honour your achievements tonight.

“What a year it has been! We’ve seen house prices fall and rebound defying market predictions even with the Reserve Bank of Australia continuing its extended cycle of interest rate rises. Agents have had to rise to an enormous challenge with the rental crisis dominating headlines due to a lack of stock and soaring construction and cost of living costs.

“Tonight REINSW was proud to be able to honour our finalists and winners by coming together to celebrate at the Star Entertainment Centre! We were excited that 500 members and distinguished guests joined in a hugely fun and entertaining evening.

"With so many deserving nominees, choosing the top professional and agency for each category, was extremely tough.

"Those who received a winner’s trophy should be incredibly proud of their achievement,” says Mr Matthews.

This year we handed out 10 agency and 15 individual category awards. Peter Vines from Ray White Commercial Western Sydney took out the Commercial Salesperson of the year award.

Stuart Ritchie from McGrath Estate Agents won best Auctioneer of the year.

The Tim Anderson OAM Residential Property Manager award (in honour of a much-loved member of REINSW) went to Simone Fogarty from One Agency Orange; and the Residential

Salesperson award went to Corrie Sciberras from Scibberas Group RE.

The most prestigious award of the night, the Woodrow Weight Award, which recognises outstanding contribution to real estate agency practice was presented to Alexandra Haggarty from First National Real Estate Maitland.

“We are thrilled to be awarding this accolade to a true trailblazer in the real estate industry, someone who has not only achieved remarkable milestones throughout their own personal career, but who has also been driven by compassion and empathy for others within their local community - implementing the Domestic Violence Rapid Rehousing Partnership, created in partnership with Carrie’s Place, a local provider of domestic violence services in Maitland and the Lower Hunter region.

“Working tirelessly to make a positive difference to people’s lives, Alexandra’s passion for helping others has also fueled her commitment to encourage agents to work ethically and professionally in order to raise industry standards.

“As an inspiring agent, principal and all-round “over-achiever”, Alexandra is one of the most valued and respected members of our profession today and a well-deserved recipient of this award,” says Mr Matthews.

The REINSW Awards for Excellence Gala Evening was held at the Star Entertainment Centre, Sydney on Thursday, 7 September 2023. For photos, videos and more Awards for Excellence news visit reinswawards.com.au or our Facebook and Instagram pages.
