Help your owners corporations save with solar grants for apartment buildings

Apartment residents across NSW can now access significant savings on electricity bills through the NSW Government’s Solar for Apartment Residents grants program. 

The program helps make shared solar systems more affordable for apartment buildings and multi-unit dwellings, providing a valuable opportunity for owners corporations to reduce energy costs and improve sustainability outcomes for residents. 

Available grants 

There are currently two grant streams available: 

  • Solar for Apartment Residents 
    Covers up to 50% of installation costs, up to $150,000 per eligible building 
  • .Solar for Apartment Residents – Boost 
    Available for eligible apartment buildings in selected suburbs, covering up to 80% of installation costs, up to $200,000. 

Benefits for residents 

Installing a shared solar system can help apartment residents: 

  • Save up to $1,100 per year on electricity bills 
  • Reduce annual household emissions by an estimated 4 tonnes 
  • Access solar energy benefits previously difficult to achieve in apartment settings 

Important information 

  • Only owners corporations or strata managers can apply 
  • Applications close at 5:00 pmon 4 December 2026, unless funding is exhausted earlier
