Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, REINSW’s second Buyers’ Agents Uncorked once again brought together members of the buyers’ agent community for an engaging evening of conversation, practical insights and professional connection.
Held on Thursday, at the Ace Hotel Sydney, the event featured expert presentations from Dr John Cunniffe, Gary Lo and Josh Wright, who explored some of the key issues currently shaping the profession.
Attendees heard valuable insights from Dr John Cunniffe on the ASBC and emerging litigation trends, while Gary Lo shared practical strategies for incorporating AI into buyers’ agent workflows to improve efficiency and client service. Josh Wright also provided guidance on managing client and business risk in an evolving regulatory and operating environment.
Host and REINSW President Thomas McGlynn said the event delivered a wide range of valuable takeaways for attendees.
“I think there was a range of really great things that everyone discussed,” Mr McGlynn said. “We got some very, very good insights with regards to building and pest inspection, best practice with regards to what they should be looking out for.”
“We also got some really good case studies with regards to some complex issues that have happened with regards to property law and insurance.”
Mr McGlynn said events like Buyers’ Agents Uncorked continue to provide strong value for property professionals looking to strengthen their expertise and industry networks.
“People sometimes don’t think it’s worth the effort to come to an event like this, but I always think that if you come to an event and even if you take one thing away that can make you a better professional, then it’s worthwhile coming,” he said.
“And I think there was way more than just one thing that everyone could take away from tonight. It’s also a really great opportunity to network and to meet other people and to learn from your other colleagues too.”
The evening sparked strong discussion among attendees, with an engaging Q&A session giving buyers’ agents the opportunity to explore key issues in more depth, share perspectives and ask questions directly of the three presenters.
Attendees also reflected positively on the opportunity to connect with peers and gain practical insights from industry experts.
Sudhir Iyer from Prudent Realty said the event challenged his thinking around emerging technology and demonstrated the value of stepping outside his comfort zone to engage with the broader industry.
“Before tonight, I’d only really heard of ChatGPT and used it very little. But this session was a real eye-opener,” Mr Iyer said. “Being introduced to tools like Claude and seeing what’s possible completely changed my perspective.”
Bec Riley from Lake Macquarie Buyers Agency said the networking opportunities and sense of community were among the highlights of the evening.
“Any opportunity to network with other buyers’ agents is incredibly valuable - it gives us the chance to grow together, share ideas, and support one another,” Ms Riley said.
REINSW extends its thanks to event sponsors Duo Tax and Stewart Title for their support of the event and the broader buyers’ agent community.
We appreciate everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussions throughout the evening. REINSW looks forward to continuing to support the buyers’ agent sector through relevant industry discussion, shared expertise and opportunities for professional connection over the coming year.
