NCAT Parramatta hearings to move from March 2020

NCAT Parramatta hearings to move from March 2020

14 January 2020

NCAT has informed REINSW about changes to NCAT Consumer and Commercial Division (CCD) listings at Parramatta from March 2020. These Parramatta hearings have been taking place at the Commonwealth Law Court (Family Court) at Parramatta. Due to increased sittings in the Family Court, NCAT’s access to these facilities will become very limited from March 2020.

In the short term this will mean that group lists (first listings) will be relocated to NCAT’s Sydney CBD premises in Goulburn Street. Conciliators will be present in Sydney to assist parties to resolve matters. The CBD location was chosen because the transport links for the Parramatta catchment are considered easier and more direct compared to the alternative NCAT locations of Liverpool and Penrith.

Some contested hearings will still take place at Parramatta when there is availability at the Family Court. Listing notices will clearly set out where each hearing is being held. In all cases, matters will continue to be managed by the Penrith NCAT registry.

NCAT is actively exploring alternative options for accommodation in Parramatta so that this temporary arrangement can be reversed as soon as possible.

NCAT is committed to continuing its delivery of Tribunal services to the people in the Parramatta area and NCAT has acknowledged this temporary arrangement will cause some inconvenience and has apologised in advance for this.

The Sydney venue is located at 66 Goulburn Street Sydney. There is paid parking available at the Goulburn Street car park and there are various public transport options including trains via Museum, Town Hall and Central stations.
