Blacktown fastest growing LGA in Australia

15 March 2017

CBRE have revealed that Blacktown is the fastest growing LGA in Australia, as it announced a new 160 apartment project being offered to the market in the area.

The 18-storey, DA approved site by Austcorp Property Group, known as First on First, has been listed for joint venture or sale by CBRE and Matrix Property Group.

It is located on 2-6 First Avenue next to Blacktown Station and features three street frontages.

Blacktown LGA currently has a population of 320,000, but is forecast to hit 500,000 by 2036.

Blacktown Mayor Stephen Bali said: “Development is booming here in Blacktown - there was $1.15 billion worth of development in 2016, that’s the second most, in the State after Sydney City.

“We had the highest number of construction certificates issued (1,838) and the second most development applications determined (2,013) of all councils in the state.

“Blacktown’s total housing stock is forecast to increase by 98,000 homes by 2036 - doubling housing stock to over 200,000 homes in Blacktown City.”

He added: “We are attracting large international companies such as Costco, Ikea and Lindt, who are setting up their manufacturing and distribution headquarters here.

“There are more than 18,000 publicly listed businesses in the city and we have the most land zoned to produce employment (3,000 hectares) of any council in New South Wales.”

Austcorp Director Trevor Chappell said: “There is a price differential here compared to Parramatta, where values have ballooned.

“On top of its own tremendous organic growth as an education, manufacturing and distribution hub, Blacktown is affordable and a very attractive dormitory suburb servicing the Parramatta CBD.”

The project has been designed by award winning architects HBO+EMTB, with apartments ranging from $450,000 - $700,000.
