Its purpose is to support greater professionalism, collaboration and clarity across our industry when dealing with sales transactions.
The Handbook is designed for sales agents, buyers’ agents, auctioneers and agency support teams involved with sales transactions for residential and rural property. It aims to lift standards, support consistency and strengthen cooperation throughout the transaction process.
This important publication sets out how agents and auctioneers can work together professionally, effectively and ethically in the best interests of their clients. It provides practical guidance on key areas of interaction, including:
- Communication between sales agents and the clients or potential clients of buyers’ agents, including purchasers and prospective purchasers.
- Communication between buyers’ agents and the clients or potential clients of sales agents, including vendors and prospective vendors.
- Communication protocols between sales agents, buyers’ agents and auctioneers.
- Best practices for registering and bidding at auctions when a purchaser is represented by a buyers’ agent.
- Handling referrals between sales agents and buyers’ agents.
- Compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including the Australian Privacy Principles.
- Conducting property inspections directly between sales agents and buyers’ agents.
