Membership matters

15 May 2023

Individual membership matters. It’s never been clearer to me how critical REINSW is to the future of our industry and how important it is for all real estate professionals to join as individual members.

Over the last year and a half, I’ve had the privilege of representing our industry as REINSW President and, during this time I’ve travelled across New South Wales to meet our members and learn about their day-to-day experiences as real estate professionals.

Our industry, like so many, was met with many challenges over the last several years – and, as a result, member after member has shared stories with me about how REINSW has helped them. Whether it was a phone call to the Helpline, downloading a template from the website, attending a training course, or viewing a webinar or Facebook Live post, the overwhelming sentiment has been one of gratitude: “REINSW was there for me when I needed them most”.

But the value of REINSW membership for each and every real estate professional goes well beyond the help you need in times of crisis.

Yes, we’re here for you when times are tough. But, equally, we’re here in the good times – supporting you, your career, your business and the industry. We want to see you grow and develop, and we are committed to providing you with the resources you need to achieve your goals.

If recent times have taught us anything, it’s that there is power in connection – and REINSW provides that connection across the industry. Beyond the benefits that membership brings to you as an individual, there are benefits for the wider industry.

As the peak body for real estate in New South Wales, REINSW is the voice for the industry. We are committed to lobbying thoughtfully and consistently, so the NSW Government takes our profession seriously and values our input on policy and legislative matters.

We are a strong lobbying group, but we can be stronger. There is strength in numbers. The more members we have, the greater our connection to the market is and the stronger our voice becomes. And the stronger we are, the better positioned we are to tackle the most important issues on all fronts – government, industry and consumers.

For much of REINSW’s history, the Institute’s focus was on membership at the agency level. The premise was that by communicating to a central point in each agency, key messages and information would then filter down to team members via internal communication processes.

But times have changed – and the way we all receive information is now vastly different. As real estate professionals, we all expect the information we need to be in the palm of our hand, as and when we need it. By opting into individual membership, you can ensure that you have the right information and resources at your fingertips.

The agency you work for may be a member of REINSW, but it’s essential for you to also be an individual member. Opting into membership is easy and, most importantly, free. Simply email [email protected]

In the coming months, I’ll be doing everything I can to ensure that as many real estate professionals as possible opt into individual membership. By coming together, learning from each other and sharing our collective experiences, I’m confident that we’ll all achieve even greater success in the future.
