Strata Statutory Review -Timeline

• 30 November 2016 - Strata Reforms Commence.
• 8 October 2020 - REINSW and its Strata Management Chapter Committee lodge their Preliminary Submission in response to the Strata Schemes Management Act 2015 (NSW), the Strata Schemes Management Regulation 2016 (NSW) and the Strata Schemes Development Act 2015 (NSW).
• November 2020 - NSW Government issues its Discussion Paper on the Statutory Review of the NSW Strata Schemes Laws.
• 7 April 2021 - REINSW and the Committee lodge their submission in response to the Statutory Review of the NSW Strata Laws Discussion Paper.
• November 2021 - The Minister’s Report on the Statutory Review of the Strata Schemes Development Act 2015 and the Strata Schemes Management Act 2015 is tabled in Parliament. This Report made 139 Recommendations for change. 
• 2022-2023 - Government considers the Recommendations made in the Minister’s Report and engages in targeted stakeholder consultation with REINSW’s participation.
• 10 October 2023 - the Strata Legislation Amendment Bill 2023 is introduced into Parliament. This Bill is the first suite of reforms which implement some of the Recommendations made in the Minister’s Report.
• 22 November 2023 – The Strata Legislation Amendment Bill 2023 is passed by both Houses of Parliament.
• 11 December 2023 - The Strata Legislation Amendment Act 2023 (NSW) received assent.
