Nearly $5,000 raised at Dubbo NAC

2 May 2017

Dubbo hosted the third Novice Auctioneers Competition (NAC) heat on Monday 1st May when Joe Walkom was crowned the winner.

A total of three contestants entered the competition helping to raise $760 from their auction items. A further 15 items were also auctioned to boost the total raised to $4,960.

Joe, aged 22, sold a beauty voucher for $200, while Holly Lewis sold a weekend away at Lake Keepit State Park for $350 and Thomas Magnet-Pollard sold a meat tray for $210.

Joe has been working in real estate for over two years as a property manager at Bob Berry Real Estate and was inspired to have a go at auctioneering by his colleagues, Bob Berry and Graeme Board.

He explained: “I have got two great mentors in Bob and Graeme who are very good auctioneers, and watching them I thought it was interesting and wanted to give it a go.

“I was nervous beforehand but once I got into it I was enjoying what I was doing. I was shocked to win and I want to practise more before the final.

“My advice to anyone considering it is to just give it a crack and see how it goes because it is a lot of fun.”

Joe will now compete in the NAC State Final in Sydney where the overall winner scoops $1,000, gets to conduct the charity auction at the REINSW Women in Real Estate Conference, and receive two tickets to the REINSW Awards for Excellence dinner.

The Orana Division paid their thanks to long term sponsors Herron Todd White valuers.
