REINSW recognition awards

Five awards were given to members in recognition of their work for the REINSW.

REINSW President John Cunningham presented five awards to members of the REINSW in recognition of their outstanding contributions during the last year.

The awards were presented during the REINSW AGM at the Sydney Opera House on 24 November 2016.

Life Fellow Award
Colin Rooke was awarded the Life Fellow title for his long continuous and outstanding service to real estate practice and the REINSW.

Colin said: “I feel quite emotional receiving this award and it is a big honour to be recognised by my peers.

“It is very rewarding and I would like to thank John Cunningham and the Board for the enormous efforts that they have put in to further the interests of the industry.”


Russell Jackson Award
The Russell Jackson Award is awarded for the best performance overall by a Metropolitan Division, and is named after the former REINSW President who held the position from 1974-1975.

This year’s recipient was Braden Walters from the Inner West Division, for his unwavering support of our members and backing with industry issues.
 
Braden also played a crucial role in this year’s Novice Auctioneers Competition (NAC) by leading the sixth heat held at McGrath’s Newtown office as well as being the MC for the night.

His energy, effort and expertise helped to achieve a great turnout with nearly 60 people in the room and raise over $6,300 for charity organisation CanTeen, which offers young people living with cancer support, information, and resources.

Max Sewell Award 
The Max Sewell Award is given for the best performance overall by a Non Metropolitan Division.

Trever Molenaar from the Illawarra Division was given the award for his commitment to representing REINSW in fundraising efforts for the Novice Auctioneers Competition.

Trever hosted seven competitors at his NAC heat which raised in excess of $9,000 for i98FM Illawarra Convoy supporting Camp Quality, which helps children with cancer. 

Brian Bowles Award 
The Brian Bowles Award is awarded to the Divisional Chair who has made an outstanding contribution to the Institute and its ideals.

The recipient of this award was Bob Berry, who is the Chair of the Orana Division, and has offered unfailing support of REINSW members and supported a number of industry issues. 

He also provided regular updates to members in the Orana Division, and is a keen supporter of the NAC and is joining the 2017 heats. 

John Hill Award
The John Hill Award is awarded to a Chapter Chair to recognise the contributions they have made to their Chapter. 

This year’s winner was Jesse Davidson, who Chairs the Auctioneers Chapter Committee. He has played an instrumental role in successfully leading the committee and was also pivotal in the success of the 2016 Novice Auctioneers Competition.

He is always on hand to offer help and advice to his colleagues and has contributed a lot of time and expertise to other auctioneers’ events.
