New residential tenancies regime

REINSW has forced the NSW government to make considerable changes to the final Residential Tenancies Bill.

The Bill has now been passed by Parliament and Regulations are in the process of being drafted. The Government must now continue to listen to stakeholders as we move into the drafting phase of the regulations. Read more ...

  • Review of the Residential Tenancy Act, particularly proposals regarding the following areas:
    • the extention of the 'no grounds' notice to 90 days
    • a tenant's right to end fixed-term agreements
    • damage by tenants being offset against improvements
    • the prohibition against charging document preparation fees
    • the payment of bonds by installment
    • how to deal with fixtures left behind by tenants
  • Residential tenancy dispute procedures of the CTTT
