Organisational structure

The Real Estate Institute of New South Wales is a public company, limited by guarantee, registered under the Companies (New South Wales) Code. REINSW was incorporated in its present form on 9 November 1922.

Board of Directors

The management and control of REINSW is vested in a Board of Directors, each member of which is a director for the purposes of the Companies (New South Wales) Code. The Board of Directors is elected according to a formula set out in Article 9 of the Articles of Association. Members hold office until the meeting of the State Conference immediately following the next succeeding Annual General meeting.

The Board of Directors is assisted in its task of managing REINSW's affairs by an Executive Committee that consists of the President, the Deputy President, the two Vice Presidents and the Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Committee members are elected biannually. The Board of Directors is further assisted by a number of standing committees.

Administration of REINSW is the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer, who is also the Public Officer and Company Secretary of REINSW.

Divisions and Chapters

Apart from, but closely aligned with, REINSW's corporate structure is its organisational structure. The organisational structure works in both a lateral and vertical manner.

On a lateral basis, REINSW’s membership is divided in 25 Divisions. Boundaries are based on geographical areas. Divisions may have one or more Branches. To find out more about Divisions and to search for Division Chairs and committee members, click here.

On a vertical basis, REINSW’s membership is divided into 11 Chapters. Chapters relate to particular areas of agency practice or expertise and Chapter membership is available to all eligible members. • President
  • Deputy Pesident
  • Vice Presidents
  • Immediate Past President
  • Representatives (all Division and Chapter chairs)
  • Additional Representatives (one from each Division and Chapter having in excess of 75 Principal Representatives)
  • Alternative Representatives (alternatives for Division and Chapter chairs who are absent or who are already members of the State Conference in another capacity)
  • Members of the Board of Directors who are not included above
  • Delegates at Large
