In a move that has been welcomed by the NSW Government, REINSW has partnered with key holiday letting groups to develop a self-regulation Code. The new Holiday Rental Code of Conduct protects consumers, property owners and communities. At the same time, it strengthens a multi-million dollar industry in NSW.

The Code has been developed voluntarily by industry stakeholders in conjunction with councils and government agencies, and reflects the importance of the holiday letting sector to the NSW economy.

The Holiday Rental Code of Conduct industry group comprises: REINSW; Holiday Letting Organisation Byron Bay; Stayz; rentahome.com.au; and TakeABreak.

By renting private houses and units, holiday-makers can enjoy the comforts of home while staying at their favourite holiday destination. But short-term renters in NSW don't have the same rights or responsibilities as regular long-term tenants. So it's a good idea to find out precisely what your rights are before renting a holiday house or unit.

Renting out your property - holiday letting information for owners and agents
Owners who rent out their homes or investment properties in holiday destinations make an important contribution to the tourism industry in NSW. Each year large numbers of holiday-makers use the services they provide. However, these transactions are not without problems. Owners and agents who are aware of their rights and responsibilities can avoid unpleasant and time-consuming disputes.
