Finalists announced in REINSW’s Awards for Excellence in Auctioneering
20 June 2011

STATE’S BEST FOUR AUCTIONEERS WILL VIE FOR TOP AWARD IN OCTOBER – REINSW

Some of the NSW’s leading Auctioneers are set to battle it out for REINSW’s top honour with the four finalists in the Auctioneers category of the 2011 REINSW Awards for Excellence announced today.

The Award for Excellence in Auctioneering is a hotly contested category and recognises the highest level of skill in this field.

The four finalists were selected after an intense competition in a ‘live auction’ where their skills were put to the test in front of a panel of respected judges.

Two of the finalists will also go on to represent NSW at the Australasian Auctioneers Competition being held in Melbourne in September.

“Auctioneering is a critical part of our industry and the four finalists being announced today are at the top of their game,” said REINSW President Wayne Stewart.

“The four finalists who have made it through to the next stage of the competition are:

  • Andrew Cooley – Cooley Auction Services
  • Peter Matthews – Ray White Lower North Shore
  • Charles Powell – Cooley Auction Services
  • Edward Riley – McGrath Estate Agents
“On behalf of REINSW, I would like to extend our congratulations to all the finalists on a great achievement.

“I would also like to thank our judges in the live competition:

  • David Sanders – Sanders Realty
  • Jacque Parker – House Search Australia
  • Phillip Virgona – Phillip Virgona Auctions
  • Neil Laws – Kerleys Coastal Real Estate
“To be recognised at this level is a testament to the skills, talent and experience which they all displayed in the live competition.

“We wish them all the best of luck ahead of the announcement of the winner at the 2011 REINSW Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner in October,” said Mr Stewart.

The four finalists were selected following the judging of the live auction competition phase in which a total of nine auctioneers participated.

Entrants were judged against a range of criteria including their description of the property, ability to handle the bidding, correctly answering bidders’ questions and overall presentation.
