Important advice for the real estate industry this weekend

18 December 2020

Earlier today the NSW Premier announced that residents in and around the developing COVID-19 cluster in Avalon and surrounding Northern Beaches suburbs are being encouraged not to leave their homes over the next few days unless absolutely necessary.

NSW Health has issued advice to people in these hot spots to restrict their movement, monitor for symptoms and get tested.

Government has also provided advice to the real estate industry with regards to auctions and open homes.

In Avalon and Northern Beaches LGA – and any other hot spot that is subsequently identified: Holding any open home inspections or on-site auctions would be highly inappropriate. The safest option for conducting inspections or auctions in the interim is online.

For agents operating outside the hot spot areasContinue to monitor electronically any home inspections and auctions. Attendees who have visited or reside in hot spot areas should not attend any open homes or auctions in person.

We urge you to follow Government advice at this time. Make sure your COVID Safety Plans are up to date; electronically sign in ALL attendees to auctions and open homes outside the hot spot areas, practice social distancing and make sure hand sanitiser is offered to attendees.

Your support to implement these measures will help reduce the spread of this the cluster. Containing this cluster will help the NSW Government avoid having to implement further mandatory restrictions that may affect individuals and businesses including the real estate industry.
