Massive strata reforms came into force on 30 November 2016 and as part of these changes to strata legislation a Statutory Review was scheduled for late 2020.
Almost from the moment the new framework began, the REINSW Strata Management Chapter Committee commenced analysing the changes. The Committee kept a watchful eye on the impact of the reforms on day-to-day practice, continually assessing what was working and what wasn’t.
This careful analysis, years of work and the Committee’s extensive experience in the field of strata management, has allowed REINSW and the Committee to lobby for important changes to the strata sector.
REINSW and the Committee proactively lodged a Preliminary Submission with Government on 8 October 2020 with an aim to influence topics in the Government’s subsequent Discussion Paper issued to the public for consultation. Since then, REINSW has gone on to lodge further submissions which raise important issues and suggest recommendations to improve the strata legislation, throughout the Statutory Review process.
Post the release of the Strata Legislation Amendment Bill 2023, which implements the first suite of changes to be made as part of the Statutory Review process, REINSW and the Strata Management Chapter Committee continue their quest for effective change to the strata legislation.
