Property managers must be vigilant when using RBO

In December 2018, REINSW informed property managers of a scam email requesting agents to login to a hoax website impersonating RBO to update their information for a property managed by their agent.

Since then, there have been more scams, leading the Government Chief Information Security Officer (GCISO) to step in.

GCISO and NSW Fair Trading's response to the scam was prompt, and the scam sites have been deactivated. However, the dangers of this type of scam are persistent and ever-evolving.

What can you do?

To ensure you are not affected, NSW Fair Trading recommends all property managers and agents using RBO to take the following action:

If you are concerned about the authenticity of an email or text, or you think you have inadvertently interacted with a scam email or text, call 1800 990 724 for assistance.
