Local musician trades drumsticks for gavel

18 September 2017

Former Screaming Jets drummer Craig Rosevear has realised his dream of becoming a professional auctioneer as a result of his performances in the REINSW Novice Auction Competition (NAC).

Cooley Auction’s Director Damien Cooley offered Craig a contract with his award-winning team for his strong performances in the NAC this year.

Craig said: “The Cooley auctioneers are regarded as the best in the business and to be selected for the team is a great recognition of my skills. I’m really looking forward to being mentored by the best.”

Craig’s ability to excel in high-pressure situations developed as a result of years of touring as a musician and will be something he brings to the auction environment.

He explained: “Being able to work closely with very talented and inspiring people is something I’ve been fortunate enough to do at the top of the Australian music industry as a musician, now I get to do the same as an auctioneer.”

NAC winner grabs job with Cooley’s

This year’s NAC winner, Michael Garofolo, also earned a job with Cooley’s after entering this year’s competition.

Michael won the first NAC heat in Double Bay back in March, before winning the State Final in August. Find out about Michael’s win here
