Increasing your home's value

By Tim McKibbin, REINSW CEO

Homebuyers are generally first drawn to external appearances, bricks, tiles, floor coverings and paint. When you decide to sell, part of the discussion you should have with your agent is what you can do to increase its appeal and sale value.

Before you get the photographers in, ask your agent to outline improvements, starting with the lowest cost for maximum return-on-investment. Your agent is best placed to advise you on how to present your property to appeal to the maximum number of buyers.

Some simple changes might include tidying your gardens, repainting internal walls or replacing window coverings. Whatever you decide to focus on, ensure you are working on improvements that offer the best return on investment.
