Planning reforms aim to boost supply

The NSW Government has recently proposed reforms designed to make the planning system more efficient.

This is good news for developers and consumers because the current planning system in NSW is too complicated.

There are currently over 400 formats of development control plans used in NSW which is bewildering.

As a result, one of the proposed changes includes standardising the format to make it easier to understand and navigate.

With the population of Sydney rapidly growing these changes are also crucial to keep up with the demand for housing.

The reforms are open for consultation until 10 March 2017 and I would urge everyone to have a look and have their say.

It is not perfect, and lots more can be done to boost supply, especially lowering stamp duty, but at least it’s a start.
