Community Partner

This year REINSW has partnered with The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). The Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia is a non-profit organization that provides aeromedical emergency and primary healthcare services. It was established in 1928 by Reverend John Flynn, and it is one of the largest and most comprehensive aeromedical organizations in the world. The RFDS aims to provide healthcare services to people living in rural and remote areas of Australia, where access to medical facilities can be challenging.

Key features of the Royal Flying Doctor Service include:

1. Aeromedical Services: The RFDS operates a fleet of aircraft that are equipped to provide emergency medical evacuation, primary healthcare, and specialist medical services to remote and isolated communities. These services are crucial for people in outback and rural areas who may not have easy access to hospitals or medical specialists.

2. Primary Healthcare: In addition to emergency services, the RFDS is involved in delivering primary healthcare services, such as general medical consultations, vaccinations, and health education programs. The organization works to address the healthcare needs of individuals and communities in remote regions.

3. Telehealth Services : The RFDS utilizes telehealth technologies to connect healthcare professionals with patients in remote locations. This allows for medical consultations and advice to be provided remotely, improving access to healthcare in areas where physical presence is limited.

4. Education and Training: The RFDS is involved in educational programs and training initiatives aimed at healthcare professionals, as well as community members. This helps in building capacity and promoting health awareness in remote areas.

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is a vital part of Australia's healthcare infrastructure, providing essential medical services to those who live in some of the most isolated and challenging environments. The organization relies on public donations, government funding, and philanthropic support to continue its operations and fulfil its mission of delivering healthcare to the far reaches of Australia.
