What experience do I need to be a property manager?

There are many skills that are useful as a property manager. In terms of experience, having previously spent time working as an assistant property manager for at least a few years is beneficial. Upon successful completion of the Certificate III, you can then enrol in the CPP41419 Certificate IV in Real Estate Practice to work towards obtaining your Licence Class two (2) Real Estate Agent.

It is also beneficial to work on developing skills that are relevant to property management. These property industry skills include networking, sales, marketing and communication and relationship skills. You'll need to be patient to resolve any disputes that arise, and you'll need the ability to keep organised, too.

You will also need to obtain the necessary qualifications. Once you have completed an Assistant agent/Certificate of Registration course, you can then apply to New South Wales Fair Trading to obtain an Certiciate of Registration. You can then apply to work as a property manager in the real estate industry.
