RBA keeps interest rates at 1.5%

3 October 2017

The Reserve Bank of Australia has kept interest rates steady at 1.50 per cent at its October 2017 board meeting.

REINSW President John Cunningham said the result came as expected with economists adamant that rates would not be lifted this month.

“Speculation is mounting that the next interest rate move will be up and that increase is now being touted to occur within the next six months.

“The RBA is in a holding pattern and consumers should continue to make sensible decisions in regard to the financing of their property purchases,” Mr Cunningham said.

The RBA will next meet on Tuesday, 7 November 2017.
