NAC winner shows perseverance pays off

16 June 2017

Nick Cerone who won the Castle Hill Novice Auctioneers Competition (NAC) on Thursday 15 June said it was the ‘proudest moment in his career’.

Nick beat off competition from nine others to earn his place in the NAC State Final on 10 August at the Police and Justice Museum.

It was the second NAC heat he entered this year and fifth NAC auction in total after he entered two heats last year, as well as getting a wild card entry into the 2016 State Final.

A total of $3,340 was raised in Castle Hill with all of the proceeds going towards the McGrath Foundation, REINSW’s chosen charity for 2017. REINSW is also supporting the McGrath Foundation with its ‘Pink Up Your Town’ initiative.

This is a fantastic opportunity for agents to connect with their local communities and raise funds to help fund dedicated nurses to help women with breast cancer. Find out more at www.pinkupyourtown.com.au.

Nick completed a bachelor's degree in communications and currently works in retail, but is studying for his real estate licence. He said: “I was much more relaxed this time and felt more comfortable and was not overthinking it.

“It was great to have my name called out as the winner, although when the judge was announcing it I was worried it was going to go the same way as my previous four attempts!

“It is one of the proudest moments in my career and hopefully will be a defining moment and give me the motivation to keep going. I would love to call an auction in real life and get the best price for the vendor.”

Nick’s mentor this year has been former NAC winner, Jesse Davidson, who urged him to enter again this year.

Nick added: “The NAC is a great competition and a great platform to showcase your auction abilities whilst having fun.

“I would recommend anyone to have a go because there is nothing holding you back and everyone wants you to do well. It is for charity and there will be bids and people will be wanting you to do well.”

There are three remaining heats which are being held at:

Heat eight - Dee Why - Tuesday, 27 June 2017
Heat nine - Newcastle - Wednesday, 5 July 2017
Heat 10 - Balmain - Sydney - Thursday, 13 July 2017.
