Former Screaming Jets drummer enters NAC

16 June 2017

The former drummer in famous Australian rock band the Screaming Jets has entered the Novice Auctioneers Competition (NAC) as part of his aim to become a full-time auctioneer.

Craig Rosevear, who toured with the band from 1993-1999, will be competing in the Dee Why NAC heat on 27 June and in Newcastle on 5 July.

He revealed the prize he’s selling has never been offered before - a rockstar experience for four people with Oz rock legends, the Screaming Jets, which includes tickets to a Sydney gig, exclusive access to a pre-show soundcheck and after show party, signed tour poster and onsite VIP host!

Craig said: “I have always had a keen interest in real estate and so becoming an auctioneer is a chance for my passion and business goals to meet up.

“I have been in the music industry my whole life and the parallels between the marketing campaigns in both industries are so similar. This has kept me gravitating towards a career in real estate and becoming a full-time auctioneer is my goal.

“The NAC was one of the things that I think can help me achieve this and I think it is a great place to pitch my talent and prepare for a competition.

“I have watched a couple of REINSW auction webinars which were awesome, including one with Gavin Croft and Jesse Davidson where I asked a few questions which they answered.”

He added that he was also keen to compete at the NAC to support the McGrath Foundation, which is REINSW’s chosen charity for 2017. REINSW is also supporting the McGrath Foundation with its ‘Pink Up Your Town’ initiative - a fantastic opportunity for agents to connect with their local communities and raise funds to help women with breast cancer. Craig said: “Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer which people can really respond to and so the McGrath Foundation is a great charity to get behind.”

He revealed some of his career highlights with the Screaming Jets was touring America in the 90s, getting to see large parts of Australia and the charity work the band was involved in.

“The relationship you build up with people out there in different locations is pretty special. I can visit places like Dubbo and Cairns and still run into people I met before.”

There’s still time to either compete in or attend and NAC heat, with three events to go. They are being held at:

Heat eight - Dee Why - Tuesday, 27 June 2017
Heat nine - Newcastle - Wednesday, 5 July 2017
Heat 10 - Balmain - Sydney - Thursday, 13 July 2017.
