15 June 2017

The REINSW’s Orana Division has welcomed the NSW Government’s package of measures to support first homebuyers and how it will positively impact Dubbo and other regional cities.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced that stamp duty exemption will be extended to first homebuyers of existing homes up to $650,000 from 1 July 2017 and reduced stamp duty rates to homes valued up to $800,000. Find out more information about the package here.

Bob Berry, Chair of the REINSW’s Orana Division based in Dubbo said: “The Orana Division of REINSW welcome the NSW Government’s housing affordability package.

“Housing is a very important sector of regional economies and the package will drive entry by first home buyers into the housing market in Dubbo which has a median house price of $355,000.

“Most other regional cities will also benefit by more investment by first home buyers which will also drive the residential construction sector, creating more jobs in rural and regional NSW.”

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said: “This comprehensive package will help encourage first homebuyers to take advantage of the opportunities available in our regional centres and drive economic growth in country cities like Dubbo.

''This reforms will assist regional residents to buy a home in their local area, and it will also encourage more people to move to regional NSW.”

Member for Dubbo Troy Grant added that the package will help families enter the local housing market, and said: 'The changes mean most Dubbo properties will be free from stamp duty first homebuyers.”
