REINSW has formally lodged a written submission with the NSW Government in response to the reforms proposed in the Strata Schemes Management Draft Bill.
REINSW acknowledged that the Government had made some changes in policy direction in response to concerns previously expressed by REINSW, however there are still a number of proposals that are cause for concern.
“There are a number of proposed changes that have not, at any time, been canvassed with the industry and are in conflict with other sections in the Draft Bill,” REINSW CEO Tim McKibbin said.
“As a result, the Draft Bill in its current form is technically deficient and unworkable for the purpose of practical application.
Mr McKibbin has previously said that the decision to simplify strata laws is a positive step forward for everyone involved in the real estate industry.
“We will continue to work with the Government to ensure that the new strata laws best serve the profession, the industry and consumers.”
