Strata reform push continues

30 January 2014

In November last year, the NSW Government released the Strata and Community Title Reform Position Paper which highlighted 70 proposed changes to the current strata laws.

Following the release of the Position Paper REINSW CEO Tim McKibbin said that once a comprehensive assessment of the package had been done, REINSW would provide a written submission to the Government with feedback. REINSW is now in the process of preparing that submission.

“We acknowledge that strata reform is incredibly important, but rushing the process will potentially create as many problems as it seeks to solve,” Mr McKibbin said.

Mr McKibbin has said previously that the decision to simplify strata laws is a positive step for everyone involved in the real estate industry.

“We will continue to work with the Government to ensure that the new strata laws best serve the profession, the industry and consumers,” he said.
