HIA-Boral recognise green buildings
Released 21 October 2010

NSW’s Blue Eco Homes has been recognised with the GreenSmart Water Efficiency Award for its Eco Home Winmalee project, as part of the HIA-Boral GreenSmart Awards.

This year’s awards, held in Melbourne, acknowledged winners across Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, Western Australia, the Northern Territory and the Hunter region.
Craig Riddle from Living Green Designer Homes put the Hunter region on the map and took out the GreenSmart Professional of the Year for “walking and talking” green living.

The top award, the GreenSmart Home of the Year, was won by Victorian-based Beaumont Concepts and Ecoliv Buildings for its Wonthaggi project.

West Australia’s Right Homes took out the GreenSmart Project Home of the Year for its 9-star ‘Carbon Neutral Home’.

Northern Territory’s Garrett Homes won the GreenSmart Energy Efficiency Award for “a well-integrated energy efficient home in a somewhat challenging area”.

South Australia’s Land Management Corporation won the GreenSmart Resource Efficiency award for its Lochiel Park Green Village project.

WA National Lifestyle Villages was the winner of the GreenSmart Community Development Award for its Tuart Lakes Lifestyle Village project.

HIA Managing Director Shane Goodwin said the HIA-Boral GreenSmart Awards are the pinnacle of environmentally responsible housing and recognise the growing contribution HIA builders are voluntarily making in making new homes greener and more liveable.

“The HIA GreenSmart program continues to play a significant role in keeping industry members and consumers aware of environmentally responsible housing,” Goodwin said.
