Local agents and community the focus of Lismore visit
30 April 2012
“Meeting with local agents is the best way to get the feel for what’s happening at the coalface here in Lismore,” said REINSW President Christian Payne.
REINSW CEO Tim McKibbin has joined Mr. Payne on today’s visit, which is part of a tour of regional centres across New South Wales.
“Spending time with local agents here in Lismore, listening to their issues and concerns helps us frame our lobbying with government at all levels.
“Some of the issues we look forward to discussing today include:
- Stamp duty reform, including REINSW’s ‘Pay As You Go’ stamp duty plan currently before the NSW Government
- Housing supply and affordability in the Lismore and surrounding areas
- Planning controls and cutting red tape to deliver new housing stock
- Interest rates and why the Reserve Bank should act now to stimulate the property sector.
“Regional and rural New South Wales is a vital part of the state’s property sector and our visit today will help us better understand the issues affecting communities such as Lismore.
“The CEO and I are looking forward to discussing a wide range of issues with local agents and seeing where REINSW can add its weight and support,” said Mr Payne. Please direct media enquiries to Julian Brophy on 0408 276 749
