Sales agent wins Camperdown NAC

17 July 2017

Sales agent Emma Brown-Garrett won the Camperdown Novice Auctioneers Competition (NAC) and hopes the competition will help encourage more women to become auctioneers.

Emma, who has worked in real estate for 15 years, auctioned off a Porsche driving experience for $700 at the Rydges Camperdown Hotel on 13 July.

A total of $7,726 was raised from the 11 competitors on the night for the McGrath Foundation. REINSW is also supporting the McGrath Foundation’s ‘Pink Up Your Town’ initiative. Find out more here.

Emma said: “I was so shocked when I won because you have no idea how well the other competitors have done when you are there. It is one of the proudest moments of my career and goes to show that passion and hard work pays off.

“I have had lots of support from my team and DI Jones provide such a supportive environment. Auctions have always been a passion of mine but I have not been in a position to pursue it until now.

“I conducted an auction in front of my peers the day before the NAC and that was more nerve-wracking than the event which helped me feel more at ease.”

Di Jones head auctioneer, Josh Larsen, who was a finalist in the 2016 REINSW Awards for Excellence Auctioneer of the Year, has been Emma’s mentor for the NAC.

The NAC State Final takes place on Thursday 10 August at the Police and Justice Museum. Find out more information about the event and how you can attend here.

Emma said: “I have already started to prepare for the final, I have been studying my video to see where I can improve, I don’t want to leave anything to chance or on the table, you need to be 100% prepared when competing.”
