Over 180 agents sleep out on Bondi beach

25 July 2017

Over 180 real estate professionals hit their sleeping bags on a chilly Bondi beach on Monday 24 July to help raise over $256,000 (and counting!) as part of the Real Estate Sleep Out. Last year’s inaugural event raised more than $134,000 with just over 100 attendees

Damien Cooley of Cooley Auctions organised the event to raise money and awareness for Father Chris Riley’s Youth Off The Streets charity, which helps homeless and troubled youths.

Father Chris Riley also spoke on the night and introduced young folk from the Bankstown Youth Off The Streets program.

Damien said: “Charity events that raise big money have to have scale and reach. Last night we had 180 people all spreading the word and raising money for Youth Off The Streets.

“Events like the Real Estate Sleep Out go a long way to keeping organisations like Youth Off The Streets alive.

“They rely on people like us and the sleep out is as much about raising money as it is spreading awareness of the incredible work Father Chris and his team do.”

Dinner for the agents on the evening was a feast of pies and sausage rolls dished up by Youth Off The Streets volunteers.

Following a night of sleeping rough on cardboard boxes supplied by Storage King Eastgardens, the agents were served a barbecue breakfast at 6am with the help of North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club members.

There is still time to donate money to this year’s event until 1 August. Find out more here.
