Protecting Australians and local jobs

10 October 2017

A successful Australian smoke alarm maintenance and compliance company has resisted the temptation to offshore jobs, preferring to invest in the local community.

Smoke Alarm Solutions employs 220 staff nationally, including 70 locally-based call centre team members.

At a time when many blue-chip Australian companies have made the cost-cutting decision to offshore call centre positions to the Philippines or India, Smoke Alarm Solutions has chosen to instead opt for Australian job seekers.

Smoke Alarm Solutions CEO Cameron Davis said choosing to put Australian employees first was an easy decision.

“We’re really proud to support Australian families,” Mr Davis said. “The investment in the new fit-out of our call centre illustrates our long-term commitment to keeping jobs local.

“Having a local call centre is not about costs, it’s about service. I know our clients want to speak to someone local, who understands the local landscape and the difference between Paddington in Brisbane and Sydney.”

Smoke Alarm Solutions supplies, installs and services smoke alarms in more than 275,000 Australian homes and has over 120 electricians and technicians servicing five states and territories.

“When a client, be it real estate agent or landlord calls with a question about compliance or legislation, they want to be able to speak to someone local,” Mr Davis said.

Smoke Alarm Solutions is the largest provider of smoke alarm compliance and maintenance services to the Australian real estate industry.

The company provides a comprehensive risk-mitigation service down Australia’s eastern seaboard, which ensures landlords adhere to their legislative responsibilities, property managers meet their duty of care requirements and tenants are safe from the dangers of fire.

Smoke Alarm Solutions’ primary aim is to provide a cost-effective and user-friendly service that will reduce the liability and stress surrounding such an imperative and intricate set of guidelines involved with smoke alarm compliance.
