Check your pool is safe before you sell

New laws now mean that anyone selling a property with a swimming pool must make sure it meets certain safety standards.

The regulations were introduced on 29 April and mean that homeowners with a swimming pool or spa cannot sell their house without a valid certificate of compliance, or certificate of non-compliance.

It sounds simple, but with hundreds of thousands of pools in NSW and a limited number of qualified people to issue the certificates, it could cause delays in selling your house.

It is also shocking to hear that 95% of pools fail their first inspection. So my advice would be to act now and make sure your pool complies because it avoids problems selling your property, and ensures it is safe for you and your family to use.
