Be prepared to resolve disputes

One of the main forums for resolving tenancy disputes between landlords and tenants in New South Wales is the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).

In 2015-16, NCAT held over 82,000 hearings in over 70 locations across NSW. For both property managers and tenants, preparing for a hearing can be intimidating.

This is why NCAT has produced four videos which dramatise different scenarios to help people prepare for cases.

They deal with common matters from a tenancy dispute about unpaid rent, home building conflict, the review of a government agency’s decision about licensing, and the appointment of a guardian and financial manager for a person with a disability.

It is important to be prepared, and I would encourage consumers to visit www.ncat.nsw.gov.au to develop a better understanding about the process.
