Wagga local takes out Novice Auctioneer Award for 2008

Released 1 December 2008

A Wagga local has beaten eight finalists to take out the 2008 REINSW Novice Auctioneers Award.

Angus Macleod, 30, of DMS Davlan Wagga edged out the competition in a close contest as finalists auctioned against each other in the name of the REINSW charity, St Vincent de Paul.

The event held in Sydney on Friday raised more than $8,000.

“It was a very close competition but Angus was the clear winner with his polished auction skills,” said REINSW President Steve Martin.

“In fact he was so good on the night that he conducted a second impromptu auction that raised an additional $1000 for our charity.

Angus was raised in Hay and worked in Darwin before landing in Wagga and says he developed his interest in auctions from his father, a stock and station agent.

Having won the title of Novice Auctioneer of 2008, he now plans to really put his skills to the test in the market place and already has three commercial auctions under his belt.

“Angus and indeed all the finalists have a really strong future in auctioning and REINSW congratulates them all on their great work which raised so much money for St Vincent de Paul.

“I look forward to seeing and hearing more about Angus and his success in the years to come,” said Mr Martin.
