Rental vacancies start the year lower in Coffs Harbour
The latest figures for January 2009 showed a 1% fall in the percentage of available rental properties, down to 2.5%
“Unfortunately there has been no improvement in the rental picture in Coffs Harbour at the start of 2009,” said REINSW President Steve Martin.
“2.5% is the lowest vacancy rate we’ve seen in Coffs Harbour since November 2007.
“Coffs Harbour now joins other regional areas where rental vacancies have fallen below 3% including:
- Albury – 2.7%
- Riverina – 2.6%
- Central West – 2.5%
“Despite interest rates being at historic lows, we have seen Coffs Harbour lose virtually all gains made in 2008.
“This is despite an almost perfect property investment environment with low interest rates.
“Hopefully we will see a return to greater rental availability over the coming months,” said Mr Martin.
