Rental vacancies start the year lower in Albury
The latest figures for January 2009 show a rental vacancy rate of 2.7% -the lowest since March 2008
“Unfortunately there has been no improvement in the rental picture in Albury at the start of 2009,” said REINSW President Steve Martin.
“2.7% is the lowest vacancy rate we’ve seen in Albury since March 2008.
“Although we saw some slight increases in rental vacancies at the end of 2008 Albury now joins other regional centres where vacancy rates have fallen below 3% such as Wollongong and areas including:
- NSW Riverina
- Coffs Harbour
- Central West NSW
“Despite interest rates being at historic lows, we have seen Albury lose virtually all gains made last year.
“This is despite an almost perfect property investment environment with low interest rates.
“Hopefully we will see a greater return to rental availability over the coming months,” said Mr Martin.
