Real estate agents rewarded for excellence
As a person buying or selling property, it is always reassuring to walk into a real estate agent’s office and be surrounded by recent sales awards. It is a strong indication that the person sitting across the desk from you is a conscientious and dedicated professional who understands the local market, is proactive in finding potential buyers and is able to give you advice on how to best present and market your home.
These agents also make sure that they go the extra yard to help buyers find the perfect property because they understand that buyers eventually become sellers and, more importantly, that their ongoing success in a competitive marketplace rests entirely on their personal reputation and that of their business.
But now there is another way to judge the ability and success of real estate agents dealing with clients in both the residential and commercial property sectors.
The Real Estate Institute of NSW has established a series of Awards for Excellence which celebrate the industry’s professionalism and service by looking at a range of factors – not just the number of sales.
“In an industry that is focused on bringing buyers and sellers together and making sure that both parties are satisfied, sales achievements are an important indicator of expertise, local knowledge, marketing prowess and interpersonal skills. But the awards celebrate much more than that. They recognise broader achievement,” President of the REINSW, Mrs Cristine Castle said.
“From a consumer’s point of view, a Real Estate Institute of NSW Award for Excellence clearly indicates a commitment to quality service. The recipients of these awards and the finalists are the best of the best in their chosen fields and the categories are: innovation, community service, buyer’s agent, valuation, auctioning, auction marketing, copywriting, project marketing, residential property management, residential sales, the residential agency of the year, the commercial agency of the year, corporate support, corporate and independent websites, and achievement awards for residential sales and residential property management that recognise excellent performances from those people who are new to the industry.”
Mrs Castle said that award winners are judged by their peers against challenging criteria which evaluates their accomplishments, skills and knowledge and their ability to embrace changes in technology and the legal and legislative environment.
She said that due to the success of the REINSW awards, and similar awards across the country, those judged the best of the best in each state and territory will now have the opportunity to be recognised on the national stage as they vie for the inaugural Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) National Awards for Excellence designed to inspire and promote excellence in the real estate profession.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the NSW finalists in these national awards: Raine and Horne Dubbo, Luke Fahy Armidale First National, D’Leanne Lewis Laing+Simmons Double Bay, Donna Collinson Combined Real Estate Campbelltown, Laing+Simmons Commercial Sydney, Richard Fennell Jones Lang LaSalle Sydney, Jennifer Mamo Ray White Allambie Heights, Bree Higgins Cunninghams Estate Agents Balgowlah, L.J. Hooker Alexandria and Costa Koulis of Ultimo,” Mrs Castle said.
“As an industry we take great pride in those people who are diligent and successful and who excel at customer service.”
The national awards will be presented at a gala dinner in Sydney on March 21 while nominations are now invited for the REINSW Awards for Excellence 2006 to be announced later this year.
