Orana rental vacancies unchanged in May
The percentage of available properties in Orana remains at 1.6%.
“These are disappointing figures for Orana,” said REINSW President Steve Martin.
“Given the low interest rate environment as well increased first home buyer activity, I think it is fair to say that these results could have been much better.
“A vacancy rate of between 3% and 4% is where we need to get to.
“There is significant ground we need to make up before we can say we have reached a happy equilibrium between the interests of both landlords and tenants.
““Hopefully the 50% cut in stamp duty for purchasers of new homes will start to see more investors moving back into the property market resulting in more rental properties becoming available,” said Mr Martin.
