Double Bay auctioneer among the best in Australia and NZ

Released 9 September 2009

Double Bay’s Damien Cooley has finished in the Top 4 at the Australasian Real Estate Institutes Auctioneering Championships, held in Hobart.

The renowned Eastern Suburbs Auctioneer was a clear leader in the field of 16 finalists from Australia and New Zealand competing for the annual title.

“Damien performed incredibly well against some tough competition,” said REINSW President Steve Martin.

“To reach the Top 4 in Australia and New Zealand is a terrific win for New South Wales and a credit to his professionalism,” said Mr Martin

Damien became an auctioneer in 2001 and now runs his own company, Cooley Auctions, as well as the Double Bay Auction Centre.

“I am really pleased with how I went, particularly given the calibre of auctioneers from here and New Zealand.

“To reach the Top 4 is fantastic but I already have my sights firmly set on clinching the title at the next championships in 2010,” Mr Cooley said.

The 2009 Australasian Real Estate Institutes Auctioneering Championship was won by New Zealand’s Phil McGoldrick.
